K.J. Orr was born in London. As an undergraduate, she won the Dan Hemingway Prize at the University of St Andrews for a short story later published in the collection Doris Lumsden’s Heart-Shaped Bed & Other Stories (2004). Her work has also appeared in the anthology Cheque Enclosed (2007) and the Bridport Prize collection 2010. She has won awards for both short fiction and plays, and been shortlisted for the London Writers’ Prize, the Asham Award and the Bridport Prize. She is a graduate of the MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia and in 2010 won Arts and Humanities Research Council funding for a collection of short stories, as part of a PhD on the form at the University of Chichester. She divides her time between London and Chichester.
