Time for Serpent and Cow
Dead will be those
who crushed the upright serpent
and the eye of the cow
will glisten brown and warm
in the beauty of its chosen fertility
when the men
in the black frocks
who beat
the bounty of our women
with their blackthorn sticks
must know
it's closing time
