Paul Birtill was born in Walton, Liverpool in 1960. He moved to London in his early twenties, when he began writing, and apart from a brief period in Glasgow has lived there ever since. His poems appear regularly in national newspapers and literary magazines, and he has read them on national radio and at poetry venues nationwide. He has published a number of collections with Hearing Eye including Odd Behaviour and Willing to Change. He also writes plays, five of which have been staged at Pentameters Theatre Hampstead, including Squalor which was short-listed for the prestigious Verity Bargate Award, The Lodger which was TimeOut Critic's Choice, and Happy Christmas which has been staged at the theatre twice.
