A stunning collection of poems beautifully written by a craftsman of words. These stories record the turning points in life, the moments which give understanding or point to a new way forward. Rich in detail, the stories are closely observed pieces of lives we recognise.

"At once painterly and musical, Frances Sackett's poetic language explores the dynamic interior world of art and the artist, sitter and the witnessing self. Her powerful, sparing idiom focuses with fine exactitude on sensuous detail, in a testament which uniquely mingles empathy and compassion with the probings of a forensic intelligence. The Hand Glass is a versatile and many-angled mirror, reflecting the slant view and the mutability of light; an attesting and original first collection"
Stevie Davies
