His short stories and poems have been widely published and won many awards. His debut story collection, Furnace (Freight, 2012), was shortlisted for the Saltire Scottish First Book of the Year and longlisted for the Frank O’Connor Award. His first novel, Mercy Seat, was published in February. He was a finalist in the Manchester Poetry Competition in both 2013 and 2014. He teaches at the University of Aberdeen.
