Lewis Davies (1967-) was born in Penrhiwtyn in south Wales. He lived and worked in the area before establishing the publishing house Parthian in 1993. He came to prominence as a writer with the publication of his best-selling first novel, Work, Sex and Rugby in 1993. Since then, he has produced a variety of work, from the murder mystery, Tree of Crows (1996), to the history of Route 66 in the US, Freeways (1997), which won the John Morgan Award, and My Piece of Happiness (2001), a novel about caring for the disabled. He also writes for theatre, and his new play, Football, will premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2004.
