Here they are a heady mixture indeed!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith that nonchalant way that Luke has of seeming to toss words as if they were his hair, Truffle Hound piles neuroses on top of neuroses (not necessarily Luke’s) as it tackles subjects as wildly varying and yet somehow connected as over the counter pain-killers, the domestic struggles of humans on other planets, scathing criticism (both literary and personal), transistor radios and shops – an inordinate amount of\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eshops\u003c\/em\u003e. (The shops are where you can buy the pills and cigarettes and food for the dogs.)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe found out today that in some colleges across the land, a certain kind of poetic output is sometimes described as being\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eKennardian\u003c\/em\u003e. We don’t know if Truffle Hound is\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eKennardian\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eor not. (Perhaps it is Neo-Kennardian?) Poets discussing their process throughout include four ‘Next Generation Poets’, major prize nominees and winners, and most importantly a number of writers without pamphlets or collections. Writers who consider themselves ‘page poets’ sit alongside spoken word artists and poets known more for their performances than their journal appearances. Those who teach workshops and attend residencies accompany those whose ‘other jobs’ are in cafes and offices.
