Lonely Destiny is a unique collaboration of poetry and art, exhibited at several venues in Bridlington, East Yorkshire throughout 2010, and now available for the first time in book form – to challenge, move and inspire a wider audience than ever.
Deirdre McGarry's metaphysical verses (hand-written by the poet to become visual works of art in their own right) and Nigel Folds' evocative paintings stand side-by-side in the book as in the gallery, providing an unmissable associative and creative experience for our times. This book is a journey, a long steady gaze at the soul, a full-powered blast of spiritual emotion – each reader will find something new, and enjoy time spent in the company of this deeply talented artistic partnership.
Deirdre McGarry was born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. She lives in Flamborough, East Yorkshire, and has established herself at the heart of the local arts/poetry scene. She was a founding member of local cultural collective 'Fish Pie & P.E.A.S.' (which allegedly stands for 'Poets, Entertainers, Artists and Songsters'), but is best-known for her 'Open House' events, sociable retreats which attract noted writers from across Britain.
Nigel Folds has been a librarian, art teacher, monk, beach comber, and is now a painter with a studio in Bridlington. His paintings are regularly exhibited in galleries throughout the area.
