Burning Eye Books & Valley Press Both on the Shortlist for The East Midlands Book Awards 2016

Burning Books by Jess Green (Burning Eye Books) and The Boy in the Mirror by Tom Preston (Valley Press) have both been shortlisted for The East Midlands Book Awards 2016.

Awarded on the Friday 17th of June 2016 the prize recognises the region’s Best Book published in 2015. Selected by this year’s judges, novelist Alison McQueen, short story writer Dan Powell, and The Bookcase owner, Jane Streeter, the winner will be chosen from a shortlist including fiction, poetry, children’s writing and creative non-fiction.

Burning Books was the striking debut collection from poet Jess Green taken from her spoken word show set in an inner city secondary school suffering the cuts and blows of government while The Boy in the Mirror was a ground-breaking second person cancer memoir charting the author's life amidst a diagnosis of stage 4 advanced aggressive lymphoma.

Our publishers are nothing if not eclectic. Good luck to both authors!
