Meet Our Team

Managing Director
Sophie ensures the smooth running and growth of Inpress, ensuring we achieve the best possible sales, marketing and business development for our publishers while keeping the core values of ACE at the centre of the work we do. Sophie brings to Inpress experience of both independent and corporate publishing. Before joining Inpress she was Head of Sales at leading independent publisher, Canongate Books. Prior to that she worked at Headline Publishing, part of the Hachette Group, starting in export sales and moving into Key Account management in the UK sales department. She is also chairperson of the board of The Writing Squad, an organisation that provides workshops, 1-1 support and investment for young writers.

Trade Sales Manager
Jane joined Inpress in September 2018 and manages trade sales to key accounts, with direct relationships with all major UK booksellers and distributors. Jane has previously worked at Canongate Books, Simon & Schuster and Hodder & Stoughton, working across UK and international sales, having started her publishing life in the production department of The British Museum Press.
Jane studied at Durham University and Royal Holloway, University of London. Originally from Grimsby, she is based in London.

Finance Manager
Emily is responsible for all things finance at Inpress. She pays great attention to detail and likes to ensure everything adds up. She also manages our eBook publishing, helping publishers digitise their books and making them available for sale worldwide. The longest serving member of staff, she knows the workings of Inpress inside out. However she is not one to shy away from new projects and testing challenges. She studied English Literature with French at Newcastle University and has since considered Newcastle her home.

Maternity Cover: Sales & Marketing Manager
Rebecca first joined Inpress Books from Blackwell’s in 2013, and spent a decade leading sales campaigns, managing publisher relationships, and overseeing digital projects. After a successful period as E-Commerce Manager at St Oswald’s Hospice she has returned to Inpress in a maternity cover role, continuing her mission to amplify the reach of brilliant independent publishers. Rebecca also volunteers with The People’s Kitchen and the Amnesty International Bookshop in Newcastle. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, yoga, and going on holiday as much as possible.

Sales & Marketing Manager
Ceris joined Inpress as Sales & Marketing Manager on a freelance basis in summer 2023. She is based near Edinburgh, and was Head of Sales and Marketing at Sandstone Press before working for Inpress.

London & South East Sales Rep
Before Inpress, Kate worked as a bookseller at Brick Lane Bookshop; she also created their Short Story Prize which she still runs. Kate studied Fine Art and has an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck. She’s based in London.

Poetry Book Society Manager
Alice Kate Mullen has been Manager of the Poetry Book Society since 2016. She designs and produces the quarterly Bulletin magazine in-house, runs the PBS marketing, membership and renewal campaigns, as well as special projects and events. She’s worked in poetry publishing since 2010, including at Carcanet Press and PN Review. Prior to that she worked in bookselling and events at Waterstones, Shakespeare & Company in Paris, on a Chicago Poetry Foundation mentorship and as a Sydney Writers’ Festival Bibliotherapist. She co-founded the Northern Poetry Symposium in 2017, co-programmes Newcastle Poetry Festival and sits on the Poetry Translation Centre Advisory Board. She was recently selected as an India-UK British Council International Publishing Fellow and represented UK poetry at Jaipur Literature Festival, Bhutan Book Festival and a Beijing Poetry Festival.

Inpress and Poetry Book Society Operations Assistant
Megan Robson is the happy voice at the end of the Poetry Book Society phone and enquiries email, and assists with finance and ebooks for Inpress. She sees almost every poetry book being published in the UK while maintaining the Poetry Book Society website, which means she's well placed to run the popular weekly books roundup, Meg's Monday Muse. Megan completed a Studies in Poetry Masters at Durham University, following a BA in English Literature at UEA and is also a practising poet. Her debut pamphlet Tracts was published in 2021 by The Black Light Engine Room Press, and her debut collection, Bertha Comes Down, will be published by Broken Sleep Books in February 2026.

Sales & Marketing
Lucy is the Sales and Marketing Assistant at Inpress Books, where she plays a pivotal role in the smooth day-to-day operations of the business. With a strong command of administrative operations, bibliographic data, and marketing, Lucy ensures efficient title management, while collaborating closely with colleagues to drive targeted marketing campaigns and support trade sales initiatives. Alongside supporting our general events programme, she also leads on the Inpress Books WriteFestival programme every September.
Lucy is the Sunday Times bestselling author of The Lamb, and her professional experience spans traditional marketing, film & TV, and content development. She's also a Forbes 30 Under 30.
