What We're Reading

This post marks the first of our What We’re Reading Wednesday posts which you’ll see on our social media channels over the next couple of months. At Inpress our heads can always be found in a book.

Our Sales and Marketing Summer Intern, Carey, is currently reading Robert GravesI, Claudius. The novel revolves around Imperial Rome and sees the emperor Claudius as the titular narrator. The blurb reads: "Written in the form of Claudius' autobiography, this is the frst part of Robert Graves's brilliant account of the madness and debauchery of ancient Rome, and stands as one of the most celebrated, gripping historical novels ever written."

“I’m reading this to prepare for my dissertation. I’m going into my 3rd year of Classics and English at Newcastle University - next semester I’ll be looking at the influence of classical literature within contemporary novels. Robert Graves is educated in the world of Ancient Rome. The depth of information found in classical literature such as Suetonius’ The Twelve Caesars is made accessible to a wider audience in I, Claudius. I’m only about halfway through but really enjoying this book so far!”.
