In a time of a great upsurge of new writing of all forms in Ireland, there are perhaps fewer outlets than ever offering a more extensive sample of the work of new writers than literary journals and magazines can accommodate. One of Ireland’s longest running literary presses, Dedalus Press revives a format once very much a crucial part of the literary scene in these islands and responsible for giving a first platform to some of the best known names in Irish writing.

In the present volume, the first of the series, we present a cross section of the work of three up-andcoming poets, Marie Coveney, Clare McCotter and John Saunders, from Cork, Derry and Offaly respectively.

Pat Boran is a well-known Irish poet and prose writer with more than a dozen books to his name, including New and Selected Poems (2005, 2007), the prose memoir, The Invisible Prison (2009), and the recent anthologies The Bee-Loud Glade and Shine On (both 2011). Presenter of The Poetry Programme on RTÉ Radio 1, he is also the editor at Dedalus Press. He is a member of Aosdána and the 2008 recipient of the Lawrence O'Shaughnessy Award for Poetry.
