"If you’ve had enough of facts and want something more than nature has to offer Eva Bourke's spellbinding collection may be just the thing... Because we have almost forgotten about miracles Bourke gently guides our imaginations through a surreal labyrinth of magic and possibility and displays a mastery of her medium along the way (...) This is a poetry whose heart is lyric and whose hinterland is all Europe, while at the same time dwelling in the poetic discourse of her adopted culture"
Sunday Tribune

"Eva Bourke has attained a new-found confidence and authority in her writing. She has an elaborate and sophisticated range of poetry styles and knowledge which strikes the reader with subtlety and force. Challenging and impressive work" Fortnight Magazine

Eva Bourke was born in Germany and has long since lived in Galway. Among her poetry collections are Gonella (1985), with drawings by Jay Murphy, Litany for the Pig (1989), Spring in Henry Street (1996) and Travels with Gandolpho (2000), the latter two titles published by Dedalus. A teacher and translator, she is also the editor of a major dual language English / German anthology of Irish poetry entitled In Green Ink / Mit Gruner Tinte (1996) and her other translations include an English language verison of Elisabeth Borchers' Winter on White Paper (2002). At present she is working on translations of the German romantic poet Friedrich Hölderlin.
