Collection: David Constantine
David Constantine was born in Salford, Lancashire, in 1944. He is a Fellow of Queen's College, Oxford, where he now lives.
His poetry books include Watching for Dolphins, winner of the Alice Hunt Bartlett Award, Selected Poems , Caspar Hauser, The Pelt of Wasps and Something for the Ghosts.
His translations include Friedrich Hölderlin's Selected Poems (1990, revised 1996), winner of the European Poetry Translation Prize. His novel Davies won the Southern Arts Literature Prize and his non-fiction book, Early Greek Travellers and the Hellenic Ideal, won the 1986 Runciman Award.
His Collected Poems was published in 2004. Under the Dam, a collection of short stories, was published in 2005.
He is also co-editor of the literary journal Modern Poetry in Translation.
