Collection: Esther Phillips
Esther Phillips holds an MFA degree in Creative Writing from the University of Miami where she won the Alfred Boas Poetry Prize of the Academy of American Poets.
Her first collection of poems appeared in Chapbook form and was published by the University of the West Indies in 1983. She also won the Frank Collymore Literary Endowment Award (first prize) for her collection, When Ground Doves Fly (Ian Randle Publishers, 2003).
Her work has appeared in several journals and anthologies in the Caribbean, the USA and the U.K. These include The Whistling Bird: Caribbean Women Writers and Blue Latitudes: Caribbean Women Writers at Home and Abroad.
Esther Phillips is Head of the Division of Liberal Arts at the Barbados Community College, is a member of the Frank Collymore Literary Endowment Committee and is Editor of BIM: Arts for the 21st Century.
