Collection: Gerda Mayer

Gerda Mayer (née Stein) was born in Karlsbad, Czechoslovakia in 1927 and came to England at the age of eleven, in 1939. She was educated at schools in Dorset and Surrey, and, in her thirties (1960-63), at Bedford College, University of London. After leaving school, she did landwork for seventeen months in Worcestershire and Surrey, and then office work in London. She married Adolf Mayer in 1949. She has published several collections of verse, and her poems have been widely anthologised in the U.K. and other countries.
