Collection: Gillian Darley
Gillian Darley writes, lectures and broadcasts widely on architecture and landscape. She has written biographies of Octavia Hill (published in a revised edition by Francis Boutle Books in 2010), John Soane and John Evelyn - both of the latter were short-listed for the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. Her most recent work is as joint author, with David Mckie of Ian Nairn: Words in Place, a celebration of the writer and broadcaster. She also wrote Vesuvius: the most famous volcano in the world for the Profile Books series, Wonders of the World, which was a BBC Book of the Week. She is a regular contributor to publications including the TLS, the London Review of Books and Building Design, for whom she writes a monthly column.
