Ian Duhig was born in 1954 to Irish parents and lives in Leeds. Winner of the National Poetry Competition and the Forward Prize for best poem, he has held Royal Literary Fund fellowships at Lancaster, Durham, Newcastle and Leeds. His Fifth collection The Speed of the Dark{/i], Picador, 2007 was shortlisted for the T S Eliot Prize.
