Collection: Jane Aspinall
Jane Aspinall grew up in Liverpool and following a legal career now works as a university senior lecturer in law and management. Her poetry manages to "pull off the difficult trick of sounding at once valiant and vulnerable" (Andrew Motion). She was a first stage winner in the 2009/10 Poetry Business Competition and was a featured poet at The Inaugural Women’s Literature Festival hosted by Carol Ann Duffy, Poet Laureate at The Wordsworth Trust in April 2010. Her poem 'Tambourine' won second prize at the Academi Cardiff International Poetry Competition and Jackie Kay and Zoe Skoulding said her poem "gracefully explores the spaces in language, the silences of what escapes communication. It’s a poem about not speaking, what can’t be said, and yet it says it".
