John Tranter is a leading Australian poet. He has been employed mainly in publishing, teaching and radio production, and has travelled widely, making reading tours to more than forty venues in the USA, Britain and Europe. He has lived in London and Singapore, and now lives in Sydney. He has published twenty collections of poetry, most notably Urban Myths: 210 Poems (Salt, 2006), which draws on forty years' work. He co-edited The Bloodaxe Book of Modern Australian Poetry (1994) with Philip Mead, and is the editor of the free online poetry magazine Jacket.
