Judy Brown was born in Cheshire and studied English at the universities of Cambridge and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She has lived in Northumberland, Cumbria, Hong Kong and London. She is now based in Wirksworth, Derbyshire, working as a freelance writer, and tutor.
