In the heat of a land shaped by volcanic mountains and pine tree woods, Stingray has chosen a life on the sea, with the sea and in the sea. His is a simple existence, but he is haunted by memories of his past, which he left far away in England. He denies his loneliness, but when the hope of love arrives in the kindred spirit of a local and enigmatic woman, Stingray sees that there is the possibility of sharing his life with another again. There is a short and joyful period of contentment. But when his daughter arrives on the island unexpectedly, a storm comes too, and with it, Stingray is forced to look beyond his boat, his isolation and his sea, and face the traumas of his past.
