Lorna Thorpe was born in Brighton and has worked as a tour operator, social worker and barmaid. She now earns her living from freelance copywriting.
As a fiction writer, her short stories have been shortlisted for awards, and appeared in magazines and anthologies. She has also published features in The Guardian. She is a graduate of the University of East Anglia's creative writing course. In Autumn 2005, Lorna Thorpe's pamphlet Dancing to Motown (Pighog Press) was named the Poetry Book Society's Pamphlet Choice. She has received two writing grants from the Arts Council and is currently working on a novel. A Ghost in my House is her first full collection.
