Collection: Mekkawi Said
Mekkawi Said was born in Cairo in 1955. He has been a publisher, script writer and regular contributor to children's magazines, and has five collections of short stories, his first published in 1981. His first novel won him the Suad Sabbah Arab Creativity Prize in 1991. He was awarded the Egyptian State Prize for Literature in 2008. His second novel, Cairo Swan Song, was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (the 'Arabic Booker') in its inaugural year, 2007-2008.
