Collection: Papillote Press
What do we do?
Papillote Press publishes books about the Caribbean and by Caribbean people, near and far. It started life self-publishing a book about the gardens of Dominica, relished the “I can do this” syndrome, and started to publish books of all genres about Dominica and by Dominicans. Papillote Press has now crossed the seas to embrace writers from the wider Caribbean. Being small and single-minded, it chooses its words carefully. We hope that our books reflect the culture and literary heritage of these islands and make them known to a wider audience.
“Papillote Press is committed to telling our stories in books that are made to be treasured.” (Marina Salandy-Brown, founder and director, Bocas Literary Festival, Trinidad.)
Who’s who on your team?
Papillote Press was started by Polly Pattullo, former journalist, editor and author from the UK, who lives much of the year in Dominica. She is a one-woman show but asks for support and advice from those whose brains are regularly picked. Papillote Press books are designed by Andy Dark, a graphic designer from Cardiff, Wales.
Where do you work?
In two places: a Victorian terraced house in south London and a home in the rainforests of Dominica. Both are conducive to the birth of books — though the latter is greener.
