This collection of essays by artists explores current political and health issues adversely affecting our arts and cultures. And the direction of possible remedies. With the dreadful tragedy of a new disease, our shared suffering and loss of lives confirm our place in Europe more firmly than ever, regardless of those attempting to cut our ties. We can no longer avoid a necessary unity with people throughout the world, desperately struggling against disease, new and old.

Especially as we share this struggle against a background of tragic and outrageous environmental losses, in tandem with the global consequences of subjection to a failing economic system. By celebrating our diversity and differences, and with the upmost solidarity, we may yet turn the tide of disaster threatening to overwhelm our health, our cultures, our arts and our planet. Donations from the proceeds will be made to the Helen Bamber Foundation.

Contributors to Now This include artists Heather Allen, Peter Datyner, Nicky Hamlyn, Alexandra Harley, Charlie Johnson, Joanna Jones, Sharon Kivland, Juliet Lockhart, Micheál O’Connell, Jonathan Page and with an afterword by Ian Chapman.
