Sonallah Ibrahim

Sonallah Ibrahim was born in Egypt in 1937. He worked as a journalist until his imprisonment in 1959 for leftwing activities. He has published eight novels. In 2003 he was awarded the prestigious prize of the Arab Novelist Assembly, and stunned participants when he denounced it because "It is given by a goverment that does not have credibility". He lives in Cairo.
