Collection: Sue Wilsea

Sue Wilsea was born in Portsmouth but now lives in East Yorkshire. Her short stories and poetry have been published in a wide variety of magazines and anthologies. Local radio also played a big part in airing her work. Two of Sue’s plays have been performed at the Edinburgh Festival and one workshopped at West Yorkshire Playhouse. More recently, her collection of short stories – Staying Afloat – was published by Valley Press and she has just been announced as the winner of the Vogel short story competition. In 2010 Sue was selected by the Arvon Foundation as one of nine New and Gifted Writers, which entailed being mentored by the Booker shortlisted novelist Romesh Guneskera. During her year’s mentorship Sue completed her novel Letters from the Summerhouse and is now working on a second.

Sue teaches creative writing at Hull University and is a freelance Arts practitioner. She is also part of a Spoken Word performance duo The Hull to Scarborough Line and reviews for a leading book readers website. Currently she is doing an MA in Creative Writing at Newcastle University.
