“He is the real deal.” - Benjamin Zephaniah
Long overdue first collection from troubadour Tony Walsh. Tony takes us on an extraordinary journey through ordinary lives; flying the flag for the performance poetry scene which packs out venues and festival tents around the UK. These are accessible, musical poems; influenced by the songs which soundtrack everyday life; brimming with northern warmth and humour; underpinned by passion and compassion.
Standing two metres tall, Tony Walsh is often billed as a “giant” of the UK poetry scene. When performing under the name Longfella he uses a long-legged logo, but it's his poetry, rather than his notable height, which has made him a popular performer at musical and literary festivals around the UK. His trademark mix of intimacy and controversy, comedy means he is frequently commissioned, most recently his poem Govan Boy was written for, and read by Tony at the inauguration of Sir Alex Ferguson Way near Old Trafford in the presence of the great man himself.
