Nearly forty years ago, Dave Ablitt chose seven local residents in Sneinton to interview for the Sneinton Magazine. The six interviews are reproduced in this book, which includes records of conversations with the vicar of St Stephen’s church, a forestry worker who was National President of the Agricultural Workers’ Union, a reformed alcoholic and drug addict who had become an officer in the Salvation Army, a veteran of the First World War, a refugee couple who had fled the aftermath of the 1978 Iranian revolution, and the patriarch of a family of successful scrap dealers.
