Jess Green and Tom Preston shortlisted for the East Midlands Book Awards!

The EMBA 2016 shortlist was announced this week and featured two fantastic Inpress writers: Jess Green (Burning Books) and Tom Preston (The Boy in the Mirror).

Jess Green is an established spoken word poet whose poetry collection Burning Books was published by Burning Eye Books. It features her popular and powerful Youtube poem 'Dear Mr Gove', which addresses the failings of the UK's education system and reached hundreds of thousands of views the week it was uploaded.

Tom Preston's debut work of non-fiction The Boy in the Mirror was published by Valley Press in September last year. It is an account of his fight with cancer at age 21, remarkable in the way that it is told in the second person - the reader is fully immersed in Tom's experience of hope, love, suffering, death and black comedy.

Congratulations and the very best of luck to both writers! For the full shortlist, click here
