Inpress Festival of Publishing 2014

Inpress Festival of Publishing 2014 is taking place on the 30th of January to celebrate the inventiveness, creativity, diversity and agility of our fellow independent publishers, and all those working in our industry.
Designed as a networking and sharing of ideas event, the Festival of Publishing 2014 is an afternoon of presentations and panel events featuring creative, social media, retail and publishing experts ready to share their experience and discoveries.

The keynote speech will come from Michael Sims, Publishing Manager of The Poetry Society and following that Steve Potter, the Commercial Manager of online retailer Wordery, will be giving a talk about the challenges of setting up an online business in the midst of a recession and the importance of independent publishers to their unique business model.
Emma Barnes, winner of the FutureBook Innovaton Award for Best Technology Innovation 2013, will also be joining us to discuss the transformative effect her new publishing management software can have on the day to day running of a small publisher.
With panel discussions on the omnipresent nature of social media as an often alien but essential part of everyday life and digital innovations that hope to bring literature to a whole new audience from a radically new direction there will be opportunities for questions from the floor to all our presenters, and we encourage our attendees to make their voices heard.
The Festival of Publishing is a chance to inspire and be inspired and hone those harebrained schemes you’ve been nursing in a supportive and creative environment. With cake.
This will be followed by the opportunity to have a drink, mingle and enjoy a live poetry event with winner of the Edinburgh Fringe Funniest Joke 2013 Rob Auton, Claire Trevien, Guardian Best First Book 2013 finalist and multiple national poetry slam winner, Scott Tyrrell.
